Bringing Speedify Magic to Mobile

This week, we’re giving you the one-two punch with some really interesting updates on Speedify for Android & iOS. Now that our developers are seeing solid throughput numbers combining Wi-Fi and 4G on mobile devices, our UI/UX designers are getting to work. Our goal is to ensure that the Speedify experience on Android and iOS will be as elegant and intuitive as the desktop version is today.

One of the things that users have told us they like about our transparent development process, is that they get an inside look at the evolution of our products. There’s no better way to see that forward motion than by getting a peek at how the user interface develops. Case in point, the two panels below show how the Speed Server pane has evolved: from an early map-style mockup for mobile, to today’s interactive, touchscreen server-selection map on the right.

Check Out Mobile Features Now

The user interface isn’t the only spot where you can see changes being made to Speedify. In fact, the Speedify desktop application is already being optimized with features that we know you’ll need on mobile. After talking to hundreds of you face-to-face at Engadget Live Boston a few weeks ago, we came back armed with a checklist of must-have features that you want to see in the first beta of Speedify Mobile. And, since we’re aiming for a good bit of “platform parity,” we’ve started to integrate key mobile features into the latest version Speedify for OS X & PC (that’s Version 3 Beta 2 if you’re keeping score). To check out some of these new features for Speedify Mobile right now, all you have to do is download the latest beta for Mac or PC and you’ll get a first-hand look at:

  • Smart Data Usage – The #1 feature you want to see on Speedify Mobile. You can now tell Speedify that one of your Internet connections has a data limit and set the billing cycle date. The app will never let you exceed your monthly data cap, while giving you fast and unbreakable connectivity around the clock.
  • Increased Efficiency – Speedify is even better at optimizing data usage. With the latest beta, tests have shown significantly reduced overhead especially on connections whose priority is set to ‘Secondary’ or ‘Backup.’
  • Faster Server Connection – Instead of speed testing each connection at login, Speedify now discovers the speeds of your various Internet connections as soon as you start sending and receiving significant amounts of data. This improved connection process not only ensures that you get connected faster, but you’ll also save on 4G data.
  • Touch-optimized Interface – As we barrel towards a public beta of Speedify for Android & iOS, we’ve decided to start getting some of the nuts-and-bolts of a touch-optimized interface into the already app-centric desktop version of Speedify. Every bit of the Speedify user interface is being designed for flawless look-and-feel on mobile devices.

If you haven’t already, sign up for the Speedify for Mobile Beta waitlist and be one of the first lucky users to get fast, unbreakable connectivity on your Android & iOS devices.
