Speedify LIVE Office Hours: Q&A With Our Developers

January 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST

Questions and Answers for Speedify

On the 165th episode of Speedify LIVE we hold our weekly Office Hours with Speedify’s CEO and Lead Developer to chat about all things Speedify.

As always, we take viewer questions, chat about what’s new in Speedify and what’s coming in the next big release, and also take a look at some user-specific cases from our Support Team’s Mailbag.

Here are our 5 takeaways from our Office Hours:

  1. When getting started with Speedify, one thing that will be very useful are all the graphs we shown in-app! The Usage graph shows the packets going in and out of your device on every adapter possible; Latency shows the latency on each adapter; Loss should always be at 0-2%, and Bypass shows the traffic going through our Bypass feature.
  2. There’s two big Speedify releases to keep an eye on: the most recent 12.8 and the upcoming update! Speedify 12.8 had a lot of fixes to the Mac experience, along with stability improvements to Redundant mode, while the next Speedify update is expected to introduce more stability fixes, native M1 support, and an even more fixes to how Starlink works with Speedify.
  3. Mailbag Question No.1 asks for IRL streaming recommendations: for simpler IRL streams we suggest using your phone with its own data bonding with the Wi-Fi Hotspot of another phone using Speedify, maybe add a handle or gimbal to steady it. But if you need more connections, you can set up a Raspberry Pi too.
  4. Mailbag Question No.2 brings up a very specific issue on the Raspberry Pi: sharing Speedify via Wi-Fi. The Speedify app has a configuration file, and at the top of that there’s a line commented out for the Wi-Fi interface that needed to be removed to allow Speedify to read the Wi-Fi configuration SSID. It should work after restarting the service.
  5. Mailbag Question No.3 brings up a common issue: accessing services that often block VPNs, like Amazon. For this, to access your local Amazon content just enable the Amazon Bypass feature and its traffic will go around the VPN, avoiding any blocks!
[Speedify has a bunch of graphs.] Everything that’s going on inside the Speedify app, we want to show it to the user so they can kind of assess for themselves. That’s why we color code each adapter.
