FightingGM: The Tekken Champion Variety Streamer | SpeedifyLIVE

On the 110th episode of Speedify LIVE we are joined by variety streamer, Twitch Partner and Guinness World Record holder in Tekken Championships, Ariel Capellan aka FightingGM.

We chat to GM about the world of fighting games and why he chose Tekken specifically, how he grows his audience as a Twitch partner, and his most memorable moments in fighting game tournaments.

1. GM is a Guinness World Record holder! After much hassle getting in touch with the Guinness organization, and proving his accomplishments, he became the person with the most Tekken tournament wins, with 19 championships! 
2. When it comes to streaming vs tournaments, GM says they’re two different beasts. With tournaments you need to practice and become good at it, but with streaming you’re always in front of an audience, and you also need to engage with people and entertain them. He says streaming has been harder for him personally, but also more rewarding because he built a community. 
3. Surprisingly enough, as a Tekken player, GM is part of the CapCom Partner Program! He’s also received sponsorships from other game publishers and through Stream Elements. He says sometimes you just need to reach out to the people you want to partner with, and Stream Elements can help get you started with that. 
4. FightingGM’s Twitch streams are set to be for mature audiences only. He says this is mostly because he doesn’t want to worry about not being age-appropriate. Even though he streams a variety of content, and tries to filter his language, it’s easier to set this warning on his channel as a precaution. 
5. According to GM it’s easier to grow on Twitch if you’re already known from somewhere else: whether that’s YouTube, TikTok, or anything else, it’s much easier to grow your audience with streaming if you already built a community before on a different platform.
