As we saw, other VPNs use old, conventional protocols, like IPSec, PPTP and OpenVPN, that were designed to protect desktop computers from bad guys. Speedify uses a brand new protocol that was designed for today’s mobile devices.
Although the Speedify protocol has dozens of improvements over the older conventional VPNs, there are three improvements that really stand out to help you understand why Speedify works so much better on your phone:
- Bonding: Every other VPN in the world makes just one socket back to the server to encrypt and send your traffic. This makes them slow and fragile. Speedify is totally different! It makes lots of sockets on every internet connection you have. This lets Speedify bond connections together for a speed boost, and switch between wifi and cellular without missing a beat.
- Modern, super-fast encryption: We use the new ChaCha encryption cipher to deliver speeds up to 3 times faster than older, AES based, VPNs. ChaCha is new, and kind of funny sounding, but it’s a standards based technology that has made its way into the latest version of the HTTPS standard.
- Error Correction: If you’re on a wireless network that is at the edge or range, or has too many users, Speedify can fix problems before they affect your apps. On this sort of network Speedify is actually FASTER than running without a VPN (often double in speed)
Technical stuff, but together these improvements are what adds up to Speedify letting you walk around, live streaming video as you go into and out of Wi-Fi range, without missing a beat. No other VPN can do that.
We discussed this in our, New Kind of VPN post, but it’s worth showing again: in many real world situations, Speedify is over twice the speed of OpenVPN (the second fastest VPN protocol):
And that’s a great reason to pick Speedify for securing your data.
