How Starlink Works as Event Internet
Events often take place at outdoor venues, temporary structures, remote properties, or locations where the existing venue internet is inadequate for the demand. Starlink can be deployed quickly at any of these locations. A single Starlink dish provides 25 to 220 Mbps of download capacity depending on the plan and conditions, enough to support registration systems, point-of-sale terminals, presentation displays, and streaming for smaller events.
For larger events with hundreds of attendees or heavy upload requirements such as live streaming, a single Starlink dish quickly becomes a bottleneck. Two or more Starlink dishes bonded with Speedify multiply the available capacity. Adding 4G/5G cellular connections from one or more providers further increases combined throughput and provides a backup path that operates on entirely independent infrastructure.
How Speedify Manages Internet Connections at Events
Speedify runs on a device or router at the event and monitors all active internet connections simultaneously. Speedify distributes traffic across every active internet connection and delivers up to 95% of their combined upload and download capacity. When any connection degrades or drops, Speedify moves all traffic to the remaining connections at the packet level without any interruption to the event’s operations.
Speedify also encrypts all internet traffic, protecting attendee data, payment information, and operational communications over every connection at the event.
How to Set Up Speedify with Starlink at an Event
Step 1: Deploy Your Starlink Dish at the Event Location
Install the Starlink dish with a clear view of the sky at the event site. Use the Starlink app to check for obstructions before the event begins. Connect the Starlink router to your event network switch or router.
Step 2: Add Backup and Supplemental Internet Connections
Connect 4G/5G cellular modems or additional Starlink dishes to your event network router or the device running Speedify. For large events, using multiple cellular carriers increases combined throughput and reduces dependence on any single backup path.
Step 3: Download and Run Speedify
Download Speedify and install it on the device or router managing your event’s internet. Speedify detects all active connections and begins bonding them immediately.
