Speedify Makes Starlink Internet on Flights More Reliable for Passengers and Crew: Get Faster Upload and Download Speeds
You can use Starlink internet on flights. Starlink Aviation brings satellite broadband to commercial aircraft, private jets, and charter flights. Airlines that have deployed Starlink Aviation offer passengers and crew download speeds significantly faster than traditional in-flight Wi-Fi services, which typically relied on older geostationary satellite networks. Speedify makes Starlink Aviation more reliable by combining it with any available secondary internet connection using Speedify’s channel bonding technology, delivering faster upload and download speeds and keeping connectivity live when the primary satellite link degrades.
This guide covers how Starlink works on aircraft, what limitations remain, and how Speedify addresses them.
How Starlink Aviation Works on Flights
Starlink Aviation uses a flat-panel phased array antenna that mounts to the fuselage of an aircraft. The antenna maintains a connection to Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation throughout the flight. Unlike traditional in-flight Wi-Fi that used geostationary satellites with high latency and shared bandwidth across many passengers, Starlink Aviation delivers download speeds typically between 40 and 350 Mbps depending on aircraft type, coverage area, and number of simultaneous users.
For passengers, this means real-time video calls, cloud application access, and streaming at speeds similar to ground-based broadband. For private jet and charter operators, it means reliable internet for business productivity throughout a flight without the interruptions common with earlier in-flight systems.
Satellite handoffs, polar route coverage gaps, and periods of high network traffic across the Starlink constellation can still cause brief slowdowns or connection drops. For users with high-stakes connectivity needs during a flight, Speedify provides an additional path to bond alongside Starlink for improved continuity.
How Speedify Improves Starlink Internet on Flights
Speedify runs on passenger or crew devices and monitors the Starlink Aviation connection alongside any other available path. When a secondary connection is available, Speedify bonds both using Speedify’s channel bonding technology. When the Starlink Aviation connection degrades or drops, Speedify shifts all traffic to the backup path at the packet level. Active video calls and upload sessions continue without interruption.
Speedify also encrypts all internet traffic, protecting passenger and crew data over the in-flight network.

How to Use Speedify with Starlink on a Flight
Step 1: Connect to the In-Flight Starlink Wi-Fi
Connect your device to the aircraft’s Starlink-powered Wi-Fi network. This is typically accessed through the aircraft’s cabin Wi-Fi portal.
Step 2: Add a Secondary Internet Connection if Available
If you have a 4G/5G cellular signal at lower altitudes or near departure or landing, or if you have a secondary Wi-Fi network available, connect to it on a second interface. Speedify will detect and bond both.
Step 3: Download and Run Speedify
Download Speedify on your device. Speedify detects active connections and begins bonding or monitoring them. Even with a single connection, Speedify’s automatic failover and traffic management improve the reliability of your in-flight internet.
