Bonded Internet with Speedify: The Essential Element of Any Live Broadcast Unit

What Is the Best Broadcast Unit for Live Streaming

Whether you’re live streaming from your home, your studio, while traveling or at an event, there’s only one thing that makes or breaks everything: the connection to the Internet. If that is slow and unreliable, then it really doesn’t matter if you have the best live broadcasting equipment or are just streaming from your smartphone, because your viewers will get low video quality, choppy videos, buffering and ultimately your live stream can even drop.

Live streaming issues can cost you followers and missed sponsorship opportunities. When you’re on looking to buy or upgrade your live broadcast unit, make sure it has Internet bonding capabilities (e.g. channel bonding / link aggregation) – or at least is compatible with those type of solutions.

In this article you will find out how to experience flawless live streaming by getting internet bonding going on your broadcast unit – whether it’s got that built-in or not.

Broadcast Unit Types – Does Yours Have Internet Connection Bonding?

You can group the types if broadcast units into three main categories:

  1. Enterprise broadcast units – usually in the form of production trucks, vans or at least a server-type rack with multiple hardware units.
  2. Professional live broadcast units – some good examples include equipment from LiveU and Peplink. Most of these are table top dedicated hardware pieces; some of them are portable as well.
  3. Computers, smartphones, tablets, Raspberry Pis and other broadcast units that are based on hardware you use on a day-to-day basis.

As mentioned above, a fast and reliable Internet connection is a must when you’re live streaming. That’s why you should make sure your broadcasting unit does that, regardless of its type.

If you’re using a dedicated hardware broadcast unit, you can check the specifications for bonding capabilities – combining 2 or more connections at once. Even if your broadcasting unit doesn’t  support connection bonding by default, you can get that by using a software bonding solution like Speedify.

Speedify Enhances Your Live Broadcast Unit with Connection Bonding

Speedify is the only app that can combine multiple internet sources into one bonded super-connection for more stable and secure live streaming, video calling, and web browsing. That means you can use it on your computer, mobile device or any broadcast unit that runs the supported operating systems: Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS / iPadOS and Android.

With Speedify, you enable your live streaming equipment to use all available internet connections at once. This will improve your live streams as you’ll get failover protection, as well as more bandwidth available to broadcast at an increased bitrate.

Regardless of the live streaming software you’re using, Speedify works to optimize it. Whether it’s Streamlabs, OBS, StreamYard, Ecamm Live or any other, your broadcast unit will benefit from improved connectivity with Speedify.

How to Use Speedify with Your Live Broadcast Unit

As mentioned above, as long as your broadcast unit runs a supported operating system, Speedify will be able to enhance it with channel bonding. Here are some general steps on how to get started:

  1. Get a Speedify subscription if you don’t already have one.
  2. Add all your available Internet sources to the broadcast unit – computer, mobile device, etc.
  3. Start Speedify and connect to a public or dedicated server.
  4. Run your live streaming software and use the Speedify bonded Internet connection for your broadcast.

Your live streaming will now be protected and you’ll be able to deliver the best video quality to all your viewers.

Quick answer

Should you have a backup 4G, 5G, Starlink, or cable internet connection?

Yes — every internet connection goes down, including Starlink, which drops for ~34 minutes a day on average. A backup connection from a different provider means one outage never takes you fully offline. The most common options are a 4G/5G cellular hotspot, a cable or DSL line, or a second satellite dish.

Speedify bonds any two connections into one — automatic failover, more speed, no dropped calls.
