In-House Litigation Counsel

POSTED 8/10/26

Mid-to-Senior Level

Location: Pennsylvania / New Jersey - hybrid or fully remote
Reports To: Company Principal
Employment Type: Full-time or part-time / reduced-hours arrangement

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join our legal team in an in-house capacity and take substantial day-to-day responsibility for the company's civil litigation matters.

This is a hands-on litigation role, not a position focused primarily on supervising outside counsel. The attorney will be expected to work directly on active matters, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, case strategy, settlement negotiations, and related litigation responsibilities.

A Note on Schedule

We recognize that experienced litigators may be interested in continuing to handle substantive legal work without returning to a traditional billable-hour environment.

For the right candidate, we are open to structuring the position on a part-time or reduced-capacity basis, with a defined and predictable schedule and a caseload appropriate to that schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and actively handle assigned commercial and civil litigation matters in state and federal court.
  • Develop case strategy and evaluate litigation risk in consultation with company leadership and outside counsel where appropriate.
  • Conduct and manage written discovery, document discovery, electronic discovery, and related preservation and production issues.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Research, draft, and argue substantive motions as appropriate.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Coordinate with company personnel regarding litigation holds, document preservation, collection of information, and responses to discovery.
  • Work with business personnel to identify potential disputes early and assist with dispute-avoidance strategies.
  • Assist with contracts and other legal matters related to actual or potential disputes as needed.

The company's matters include commercial disputes and intellectual-property issues.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Pennsylvania bar admission preferred.
  • Admission to one or more federal district courts is preferred; willingness and ability to obtain additional admissions as needed.
  • Approximately 5+ years of civil litigation experience, with meaningful responsibility for actively litigated matters.
  • Hands-on experience with written discovery, document production, depositions, and substantive motion practice.
  • Experience handling commercial, business, contract, or similar civil disputes.
  • Experience with intellectual-property disputes or Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings is a plus.
  • Experience with mediation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations is desirable.
  • Trial experience is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work directly with business personnel and understand legal issues in the context of the company's commercial objectives.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience and schedule, including pro-rated compensation for reduced-hours arrangements.
  • A substantive litigation role with direct involvement in case strategy and decision-making.
  • The opportunity to handle meaningful litigation without a traditional law-firm billable-hour requirement.
  • Flexible full-time or reduced-hours arrangements.

To Apply

Please submit a resume and a brief cover letter describing your litigation experience, including your experience with discovery, depositions, substantive motion practice, and responsibility for actively litigated matters, to [email protected].
