How Starlink Works on Flights
Starlink Aviation uses a flat antenna mounted on top of the aircraft. Starlink’s satellites are much closer to Earth than the satellites older in-flight Wi-Fi uses, so there is less delay, and video calls, cloud apps and streaming work much like they do on the ground.
In a passenger seat, Starlink means the airline’s Starlink Wi-Fi, not a Starlink dish you bring yourself. Check your airline’s rules before you pack a Starlink Mini.
Everyone on board shares the same Starlink internet connection. When many passengers stream at once, it slows down, and your Starlink internet connection can drop briefly when the aircraft’s antenna switches satellites or passes through areas with less coverage.
