Make Professional Livestreams on your Mac with Ecamm Live | Speedify LIVE

On the 174th on Speedify LIVE we welcome back Doc Rock of Ecamm Live – content manager, teacher, live streamer and a friend of Speedify to talk about the latest release of Ecamm Live and all its features.
We chat about everything from livestreaming and repurposing content, to what makes Ecamm different and Doc’s favorite new features.
Here are our 5 takeaways from our chat with Doc Rock:
- We agree with Doc Rock that going for medium production value is the way to go! Doc says he likes to present himself as he is, instead of focusing on the best equipment, he likes to show something that’s attainable for those who may be starting out – Ecamm Live helps a lot with that, making things easy, and always ready to go.
- Ecamm Live 4 is the latest release with a number of handy features, but there’s two that Doc likes to highlight: the multi-streaming capability allows to stream to 10 different locations, while Doc’s favorite is the camera switcher that helps you label your cameras, switch between them quickly or even automatically, and their order won’t be disrupted by a MacOS update or a reboot!
- When it comes to Ecamm vs OBS, apart from platform availability and feature differences, Doc Rock says there’s one huge difference that will mean the most: the community! Ecamm Live has an active Facebook community with people who help each other, share advice and push each other to the next level.
- While Doc agrees that good audio is important, he says that soft skills are even more so! He says learning promotional and marketing skills will go a lot further than just getting new gear. Even so, for those wanting to upgrade, he recommends the MV7 and SM7B microphones.
- Doc Rock currently mostly streams to YouTube for a number of reasons: he says discoverability is better on YouTube than elsewhere, it has a lot of repurposing options, the best quality for footage, and an app available on every platform, unlike other streaming options. In addition, YouTube also has a “listenable” option for those wanting to just listen in the background!
Just put out your content. Somebody needs to see you where you are because the other person that they’re looking at is unattainable. And if you’re only a few steps in front of them, they feel they can get to that, so they will follow you rather than someone who is completely unattainable.
