Use Speedify to Stream the 2028 Summer Olympics Without Interruptions
The LA 2028 Summer Olympics open in Los Angeles on July 14, 2028 and run to July 30 (LA28 schedule), with a few team sports, cricket and basketball among them, starting two days early on July 12 (NBC). Free-to-air broadcasters in the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia and much of Europe hold the rights. Two things get you there: the right free feed, and an internet connection that holds.
Speedify handles the second part, running your internet over Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink and satellite internet connections together with VPN encryption, so a 100m final or a swimming relay can keep playing to the finish when one connection drops.
Speedify keeps the stream running when the moment matters
BBC iPlayer, CBC Gem, RTÉ Player, 9Now and the other free players are listed below, along with the US and Mexico options, the Paralympic dates and what using Speedify adds once the coverage starts. A steadier stream with Speedify needs two or more internet connections, such as home Wi-Fi plus your phone’s 4G/5G cellular; on a single connection, Speedify works as an encrypted VPN, can be a little slower and cannot stop that connection from dropping.
Official Free Broadcasters for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles
Several official broadcasters worldwide hold the rights to LA 2028, and the public broadcasters among them stream the Games for free. Each platform is limited to viewers in its own country.
The rights deals below are confirmed and cover LA 2028. Each broadcaster’s streaming plan for 2028, including exactly which events stream free, is announced closer to the Games.
Events run on Pacific Time, so evening sessions in Los Angeles land overnight in the UK and Europe and around midday the next day on Australia’s east coast.
BBC iPlayer (United Kingdom) at https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer is the BBC’s streaming home for LA 2028. The BBC holds free-to-air rights through 2032 under the European deal between the IOC, the European Broadcasting Union and Warner Bros. Discovery (EBU announcement). At past Games the BBC ran several live streams at once alongside its TV channels. Watching live or on demand on iPlayer requires a UK TV licence.
9Now (Australia) at https://9now.com.au is part of Nine’s exclusive Australian rights, which run from Paris 2024 to Brisbane 2032 and include LA 2028 (IOC announcement). Nine splits its Olympic coverage between the free Channel 9 and 9Now and the paid Stan Sport. How the 2028 events are divided between them has not been announced.
CBC Gem (Canada) at https://gem.cbc.ca is the streaming service of CBC/Radio-Canada, which holds the exclusive Canadian rights for LA 2028 and has committed to at least 200 hours of the Summer Games on free TV (IOC announcement). CBC Gem streamed the last Winter Games free with a CBC account, with ads.
RTÉ Player (Ireland) at https://www.rte.ie/player is the streaming player of RTÉ, which holds free-to-air TV and digital rights for LA 2028 through the same EBU deal. That deal commits every EBU member to more than 200 hours of TV coverage of each Summer Games.
For European viewers, the EBU deal also covers ARD and ZDF (Germany), France TV (France), RAI Play (Italy), ORF TV (Austria), RTP Play (Portugal), RTVE Play (Spain), SVT Play (Sweden), NRK TV (Norway), and NOS (Netherlands). Each one shows the Games free in its own language, on TV and on its own streaming player. Warner Bros. Discovery holds the pay-TV and full streaming rights across Europe through Eurosport and its streaming services, which are paid.
NBC and Peacock (United States): NBCUniversal holds the US rights to LA 2028 and every Games through 2036 (Variety). The NBC broadcast channel is free over the air with an antenna. Peacock, which streamed every event of Paris 2024, is a paid service with no free tier.
TelevisaUnivision (Mexico): TelevisaUnivision holds the exclusive Mexican rights to every Olympic Games through 2032, including LA 2028, with a commitment to at least 200 hours of free-to-air TV coverage and streaming on its ViX service. At Paris 2024, its free coverage ran on Canal 5. Claro Sports also carries the Games in Mexico on its cable and digital platforms under an agreement with TelevisaUnivision. Which 2028 events stream free has not been announced.
The LA28 Paralympic Games follow from August 15 to 27, 2028, the first Paralympics hosted in Los Angeles (International Paralympic Committee). Paralympic rights are sold separately from the Olympics, so the channel that carries them in your country may be different. Check your local listings closer to August.
These free players are geo-restricted: each one is licensed for viewers in its own country, and each streaming service sets its own regional rules in its terms. If you live in one of these countries and travel during the Games, Speedify can connect you through a server in your home country so you can reach the player you already use there. Some players block VPN servers, so this does not work with every service, and BBC iPlayer still needs a UK TV licence.
The 2026 Winter Olympics Are Over: Where the 2030 Winter Games Will Stream
The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics ran from 6 to 22 February 2026, so there is no live coverage left to stream. The next Winter Games are the 2030 Games in the French Alps, from 1 to 17 February 2030. The BBC, CBC/Radio-Canada, Nine, RTÉ and the other EBU broadcasters listed above hold the Olympic rights through 2032, and NBCUniversal through 2036, so the same free players should carry the 2030 Winter Games too.
Speedify Keeps Your Olympics Stream Stable
Most VPNs only change your IP address. Speedify also works on the connection itself, combining your internet connections so your LA 2028 live streams are less likely to buffer or drop while your favorite athletes compete. Here is how Speedify differs from a traditional VPN.
Speedify Combines Internet Connections: Speedify uses multiple internet sources at the same time (Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, Starlink, satellite and wired broadband) for more reliable, secure and faster download and upload speeds, including streaming.
Speedify’s protocol splits traffic per packet across all of those connections, so each one adds bandwidth to the stream instead of sitting idle as a standby.
Speedify Makes Video Streams Better: Traditional VPNs often slow down your internet speeds, which shows up as buffering during crucial Olympic moments. Speedify enhances streaming performance instead: adding the bandwidth of your other connections means faster initial load times, less buffering and smoother playback, which matters most in a 100m sprint or a swimming final.
Speedify Provides Reliable Internet that Doesn’t Break: if your Wi-Fi cuts out in the final minutes of the basketball gold medal game, a standard VPN drops with it and you miss the winning shot. Speedify’s automatic failover moves the stream to your 4G/5G cellular, tethered phone or wired broadband connection without dropping it.
Speedify Monitors and Adjusts Your Download and Upload Speeds in Real-Time: Speedify checks every available connection (Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, tethered phones, Starlink, other satellite and wired broadband) continuously and uses the fastest, most reliable combination at any moment, with nothing for you to adjust.
How to Set Up Speedify to Watch the 2028 Summer Olympics Online for Free
Setting up your free Olympic streaming takes just minutes:
- Download Speedify for your device (available for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux and OpenWrt).
- If you are traveling, select a Speedify server in your home country (for example the UK for BBC iPlayer, Australia for 9Now or Canada for CBC Gem) to reach the player you already use at home. Free accounts get a smaller set of server locations, so a specific country is not guaranteed on the free tier.
- Connect to that server with Speedify.

- On the device you want to watch on (computer, laptop, tablet, iPhone or Android smartphone), go to your chosen broadcaster’s website or open its app, such as BBC iPlayer, 9Now or CBC Gem.
- Create a free account if required.
- Start streaming the LA 2028 Olympics when coverage begins in July 2028.
