Starlink reaches you from satellites. 4G/5G cellular comes from towers on the ground. What slows Starlink down, like a blocked Starlink dish or a busy Starlink network, doesn’t affect your cellular signal, and a cell tower outage doesn’t affect Starlink. The two rarely fail at the same moment, so each one covers for the other.
How to Use Starlink and 4G/5G Cellular Together on Ubuntu Linux with Speedify
Step 1: Connect a 4G/5G Cellular Modem or Phone to Your Ubuntu Computer
Plug a USB cellular modem into your Ubuntu computer, or connect an Android phone with a USB cable and turn on USB tethering in the phone’s settings. Ubuntu usually finds the cellular connection on its own. Open Settings > Network (or Settings > Mobile Network for a USB modem) and check that it shows as connected.
Step 2: Connect Your Ubuntu Computer to Your Starlink Wi-Fi Network
Click the network icon in the top-right corner of the screen, open Wi-Fi and pick your Starlink Wi-Fi network. Check that Starlink Wi-Fi and the cellular connection both show as connected.
Step 3: Install and Open Speedify on Your Ubuntu Computer
To download Speedify for Ubuntu, open the Terminal app, paste this command, press Enter, and type your Ubuntu password if it asks for it:

You choose how Speedify uses cellular: click the cellular connection in Speedify and set its priority. Always uses it all the time, for the most speed. Secondary uses it when Starlink is too slow. Backup uses it only when Starlink drops, which saves the most cellular data. You can also set a data limit for the cellular connection.
