Speedify LIVE: How to Stream a 24/7 Virtual Cat Cafe

In this episode of Speedify Live our guest is Sam Proof - actor, writer and the brains behind the CuteAvalanche phenomenon. Since 2017, the kitten cam has been live streaming cats all over the Internet non-stop.

Here are our 5 takeaways from our talk with Sam Proof about his 24/7 Virtual Cat Café:
- Sam started out as an online creator in the early days of the Internet. From Tumblr, to YouTube, to Facebook, to Mixer, he’s tried it all. Now, his Virtual Cat Café has become an Affiliate on Twitch, streaming Cats 24/7.
- There are some perks to being a Twitch affiliate. It allows for chat control so the cat-lovers watching can use their channel points to switch between cameras, change the lights in the kitten room, control overlays, and use special cat-themed Emotes, making the streams as interactive as possible.
- CuteAvalanche uses multiple cameras that Twitch chat can switch between and control. There’s a Logitech C920, an old Camcorder, a CCTV system, an iPad, some cheaper webcams, a GoPro, and thanks to viewer donations, an OBSBOT Tiny which allows for 360 degrees pan and tilt, that can also be controlled by chat.
- The channel also has various events: from St. Catrick’s day, to Catmas, to the SuPURRbowl, each event focuses on giving kittens a better life, getting them out of shelters, and finding them new, loving homes. With most events being in cooperation with KittenRescue.org.
- Being based in Los Angeles, with not much of a choice in ISPs, and regular blackouts and long downtimes, Sam and his Virtual Cat Café have seen many Streamergencies. But this is where Speedify can come in handy if you’re looking to stream and find yourself in a similar situation due to location or ISP problems.
