Living the PC Builder Dream and Live Streaming It
On the 49th episode we take a look at the world of PC building with Zach Ferree, the mind behind Zach’s Tech Turf on YouTube and Twitch, who even builds a budget gaming PC just for our stream!
Zach tells us about his experiences in the world of “TechTubers”, why he’s chosen to stream to multiple platforms, and how he might use Speedify in the future.
Here are our 5 takeaways from our PC Building stream with Zach Ferree:
- Believe it or not, Zach built his first PC when he was 5 years old! This is where it all started, and what inspired his YouTube channel was his parents having a PC building and consulting business in the 90s, where they repaired PCs, and helped people learn about them – kind of what Zach is doing now, only virtually.
- What makes Zach’s Tech Turf different from other Tech YouTubers is his approach and overall mindset when it comes to his builds – he does his best to make sure that every budget PC is aesthetically pleasing sitting on your desk, instead of stressing over what could provide even 1% of better performance.
- Zach’s focus on aesthetics even extends to minor things like the sticker on the power supply! On some PC cases the sticker on the power supply would be visible and it would not look as nice, so Zach removes the default sticker and replaces it with a carbon fiber vinyl wrap that matches the color scheme of the build.
- Besides making YouTube videos, Zach also streams his PC builds to Twitch and YouTube on a show he calls “Thirsty Thursdays”, where he builds a PC and connects with his audience over a beer.
- Zach’s office shares its internet with his building, and sometimes it can become unstable when others use up too much bandwidth. This is where Speedify will come in handy! With his setup, he’ll be able to use his Ethernet connection and tether his phone to his PC to combine in Speedify and provide a more fail-proof streaming experience.
