Building Custom PCs While Livestreaming
On the 80th episode of Speedify LIVE we do another PC building stream as we’re joined by Jeff “Stince” Stinson from StinceBuilt, the custom PC building company that livestreams their builds on Twitch.
We talk to Jeff about his very elaborate studio setup, what celebrities he’s built PCs for, how Speedify can help with livestreaming, and we enjoy as he builds a beautiful PC on our collaborative stream
Here are our 5 takeaways from our PC building episode:
- StinceBuilt’s studio setup is quite complex: OBS studio is their software of choice, using features of StreamElements with it; while the list gets a lot longer when it comes to hardware, with a 1TB NVMe SSD drive, 2TB backup drive to record their content, a Yamaha mixer, a wireless lavalier microphone system, a Rode PodMic; seven cameras, including three 3D mirrorless DSLR cameras, four Logitech C922 webcams shooting from all possible angles, and of course an Elgato Streamdeck to bring it all together.
- Jeff has done some interesting builds, some of them for celebrities, but his most memorable build is the “Goldfinger”: a completely gold, custom painted PC with actual gold flakes used in the paint. It took them more than two weeks to get the paint job done!
- StinceBuilt uses Discord as their main ways of connecting with the community. They provide support, people can request updates and quotes, or just hang out and chat.
- Tips on cleaning your PC: use compressed air, but don’t get too close to the components! If your case has a built-in filtration system with trays, you can take the magnetic filters out, wash them under water, leave them to dry overnight, and put them back into the PC only once fully dry.
- Speedify helped us avoid a Streamergency by saving our stream twice, without us even noticing any issues! The stream was running with Speedify combining an Ethernet and two cellular connections, one through Wi-Fi, one through USB tethering. When the Ethernet dropped, Speedify instantly failed over to the remaining connections, keeping the stream alive, and not even bothering us with the issue!
