Speedify × Press & Journalism
File the story. Don't lose the feed.
The Problem
Breaking news doesn't wait for better Wi-Fi.
Journalists work in environments that punish single-connection uplinks. Press conferences pack hundreds of reporters into rooms where shared venue Wi-Fi is immediately overwhelmed. Breaking news scenes draw every crew in the city to the same cellular towers at the same moment. Disaster zones take out terrestrial infrastructure entirely.
A live package coming from the field is a fixed-bitrate video stream. When the internet connection drops below the encoder's minimum bitrate, the picture freezes and the anchor goes to fill. For a reporter at a major press conference or on the scene of a breaking story, that is not a technical glitch, it is the job not getting done.
Single-carrier cellular modems and portable satellite terminals are both single points of failure. A reporter who can bond multiple independent paths - 4G/5G cellular from two carriers plus Starlink - has a contribution uplink that survives the conditions that take every other crew offline.
When the story is happening now,
the internet connection has to work now.
The Solution
One bonded internet uplink. Multiple independent paths. No single point of failure.
- Multiple cellular carriers provide independent redundancy: when a tower near a breaking news scene saturates, Speedify routes around it automatically.
- Starlink adds high-throughput satellite bandwidth independent of local cellular infrastructure — critical at press scrums, disaster zones, and remote locations.
- Speedify's streaming mode prioritizes live video traffic across all active links, keeping upload throughput stable at encoder bitrate during conditions that would spike latency on any single connection.
- Speedify encrypts the entire bonded connection with AES-256 end-to-end, protecting source material and live feeds in transit.
The feed stays live.
Whether the venue Wi-Fi goes down or the cellular tower saturates.
Scenarios
Built for every kind of press & journalism operation.
01 / Live remotes and field reporting
A field reporter's bonded uplink that holds through the live shot.
02 / Breaking news and rapid deployment
Internet connectivity that arrives faster than the network engineer.
03 / Press conferences and media scrums
A bonded internet uplink that survives a room full of competing crews.
04 / Foreign correspondence and remote reporting
A reliable internet uplink wherever the story takes the reporter.
Stack
Speedify works under the broadcast tools your crews already carry.
Speedify operates one layer below. The encoder or contribution device sees a single, more resilient internet connection. Broadcast-specific transport - FEC, ARQ, hitless failover - keeps working exactly as configured.
The combination is additive: the encoder handles broadcast-grade transport, Speedify handles underlying network resilience. Together they make the contribution feed genuinely hard to drop.
The Solution
Two ways to run Speedify in the field.
Network level
Run Speedify on a supported bonding router for whole-rig or live truck coverage. Every device connected to the rig's network: encoder, IFB, comms, monitoring laptop - benefits from bonded connectivity without per-device installation.
- Supported OpenWrt routers: With a Speedify for Routers license.
- Powered by Speedify routers: Speedify is preinstalled and ready to configure.
