Get a Faster Internet Connection by Combining WiFi and Your Tethered Phone Connection
Want faster upload and download speeds and more reliable internet on your Mac or PC? Run Wi-Fi and a tethered phone at the same time.
Speedify is an app that combines two or more internet connections at once – such as Wi-Fi and a tethered phone – so you get faster uploads and downloads and stay online if one connection drops out. In most cases you need no extra hardware.
With Speedify, your internet stays on when one connection fails.
When one of your connections drops, Speedify automatically routes your traffic to your remaining connections — so calls don't cut out and downloads don't stall.
What You Need to Combine WiFi and Tethered Phone Connections
As a general rule, if you’re trying to connect multiple Internet connections for faster speeds, note that your various connections must come from different Internet sources – e.g. your home network and a close by cafe or public network. For example, Wi-Fi and Ethernet networks that are connected to the same router device cannot be combined for increased bandwidth using channel bonding applications like Speedify, because they both share the same upstream network.
In this case, where we combine WiFi and tethered phone, we’ll assume you’re connecting to a WiFi connection that is separate than your tethered phone – your own home WiFi, a public network, etc.
Want to get boosts of bandwidth and watch your favorite shows in high definition? See below how you can get more “pipe” than what you’re paying for and also protect your online traffic from cyber threats.
Step 1: Connect to Your WiFi Network
Just connect your Mac or PC to WiFi like you normally would using your computer’s internal WiFi card or, if not available on your device, through a USB WiFi adapter.
Step 2: Tether Your Smartphone to Your Computer
When tethering your smartphone to your computer, you can choose to do this via cable (USB) or wireless mobile hotspot. For wired tethering, just connect your phone to a USB cable plugged into your computer and follow the instructions for tethering from your device manufacturer. For wireless mobile hotspot tethering, you’ll have to create a mobile hotspot on your device so that your computer can be able to connect to that newly created WiFi network.
We recommend using the USB cable to tether your phone, as it will save you from buying another USB WiFi adapter to connect to the second WiFi network which will be generated by your smartphone during the wireless mobile hotspot tethering process.
Step 3: Combine WiFi and Tethered Phone Connections with Speedify
Now that you have both your WiFi and tethered phone connections active simultaneously, you need to combine them for faster and more reliable Internet. This is where Speedify comes in. Speedify is a next generation fast mobile VPN for PC, Mac, Android and iOS users that combines all available Internet connections on your computer or mobile device at the same time to create a single fast and secure super-connection. It also keeps your private information safe and protects you from snooping ISPs, hackers, and other cyber threats.
To get started with Speedify, simply install the software on your device and you’re ready to go – it will automatically detect both your WiFi and tethered phone connections. And that means you’re using both for their combined speed and reliability.
