How Much Upload Speed Professional Livestreaming Needs
Twitch recommends 3 Mbps of upload for 720p at 30 frames per second, 4.5 Mbps for 720p at 60 or 1080p at 30, and 6 Mbps for 1080p at 60 frames per second. Multi-camera shows and higher-quality broadcast feeds need more. What matters most is that the upload stays steady. When it falls below the bitrate your stream is set to (the amount of video data it sends each second), viewers see frozen frames, blurry video or a stream that cuts out.
Starlink lists uploads of 10 to 30 Mbps, and Priority plans list 20 to 44 Mbps. That covers most single streams. But your Starlink dish switches satellites about every 15 seconds, and the Starlink network slows down at busy times. Either can pull your upload under your bitrate for a moment, and that is enough to break a live broadcast.

Step 1: Set Up Your Starlink Dish at the Broadcast Location
Place your Starlink dish with a clear view of the sky and check the Starlink app for obstructions. Connect the Starlink router to your streaming computer with an Ethernet cable, which is steadier than Wi-Fi.
Step 2: Add a Second Internet Connection
Connect a 4G/5G cellular modem, a mobile hotspot or your phone to the streaming computer. If you have more than one cellular connection, Speedify can use all of them with Starlink for even more upload speed.
