Why MSPs Are Adding Starlink Internet Connections for Their Clients
MSPs looking after client networks at rural offices, construction sites, temporary offices and remote facilities run into the same problem again and again: there’s no wired internet line, and cellular isn’t fast or steady enough for the work. Starlink fixes much of this. Starlink says its downloads run 45 to 280 Mbps, and a Starlink dish works almost anywhere with a clear view of the sky.
For an MSP, Starlink does two jobs. At sites with no wired line, the Starlink internet connection is the only fast internet option. At sites that already have a wired or cellular internet connection, Starlink is the backup, and Speedify switches the client’s traffic to it automatically when the main internet connection fails.
Speedify lets an MSP run both setups in software on the client’s router, as long as it’s a router that works with Speedify, so there’s no special box to buy for each site.
How Speedify Works When MSPs Manage Starlink at Client Sites
Speedify runs on the router at each client site and watches every internet connection at the same time. With Starlink and a second internet connection, like 4G/5G cellular or a wired broadband line, both working, Speedify uses them together, so the site gets close to their combined upload and download speed. When either one weakens or drops, Speedify moves all the client’s traffic to the one that works. Cloud apps, internet phone calls and video meetings stay online, and neither the MSP nor the client has to step in.
Speedify needs at least two internet connections at a client site. With a Starlink dish alone, Speedify can’t add speed or stop Starlink’s short drops.
Speedify also encrypts all internet traffic at each client site, so client data is protected on every internet connection.
How MSPs Can Set Up Speedify with Starlink at Client Sites
Step 1: Set Up Starlink Service at the Client Site
Install and activate the Starlink dish at the client location. At sites without a wired line, Starlink is the main internet connection. At sites with a wired line, Starlink is the second internet connection and the backup.
Step 2: Connect the Starlink Router to the Client’s Router Next to Any Other Internet Connection
Connect the Starlink router to the client router you manage. If the site has a wired or cellular internet connection, connect it to a different port on the same router. Each internet connection should show up on its own port in the router’s settings.
Step 3: Install Speedify on the Client’s Router
Install Speedify on the client’s router (see the routers that work with Speedify). Speedify finds every internet connection and starts using them together right away. From then on, Speedify handles the site’s internet connections automatically.

Speedify shows Starlink dish alerts for each connected Starlink dish in the app. If a client’s Starlink dish is overheating or its mounting pole isn’t straight, Speedify shows an alert. MSPs can use these alerts to fix a Starlink dish problem at a client site before it takes the site offline.
