Your Whole Family Deserves to Be Protected and Have Uninterrupted Internet
A VPN family plan is one subscription that covers several people. Speedify for Families covers 5 user accounts, each on up to 5 devices at once, so every person in your household gets their own encrypted connection.
Speedify is an app that encrypts a device’s internet traffic so school Wi-Fi and hotel hotspots cannot read it, and it can run that traffic over a laptop’s Wi-Fi and a phone’s 4G/5G cellular at once. The speed and failover gains need two or more internet connections; on one connection, Speedify works as an encrypted VPN and can be a little slower. This guide walks through what a family VPN plan covers and what each person in your household gains by using Speedify: private browsing on their own device, and a steadier connection when two are available.

How a VPN Family Plan Protects Every Person in the Household
A VPN family plan differs from several individual plans in two ways: one person, usually a parent, pays for everyone, and the cost per person is lower. The details vary between VPN services.
Leaving the logistics aside, your family will benefit from all the features you get with a VPN:
- Safe browsing on public Wi-Fi networks. You wouldn’t want the private pictures or accounts you share with your family to fall into the wrong hands.
- Messaging that gets through: some school, work and public Wi-Fi networks block services like WhatsApp or Snapchat, and with the traffic encrypted, the network cannot single them out.
- Your own services while traveling. Over an encrypted connection you can reach your home accounts and services from abroad. Speedify is not designed to unblock location-restricted content such as streaming video clips, but connecting to a server in another country may make some of it accessible; some services block VPN servers, so try another server if one does not work. Streaming libraries are different: Speedify does not unblock them, so you see the library of the country you are in.
- Private browsing on any network: your internet provider and the Wi-Fi network see only an encrypted connection to a Speedify server, so they cannot sell “personalized” ads based on the sites you visit.
Plus, with a VPN that combines connections, like Speedify, each device can get a steadier internet connection by combining two or more connections at once, such as Wi-Fi and a phone’s 4G/5G cellular.
How the Speedify for Families VPN Plan Provides Better Internet
Say you pick a VPN family plan that checks all the security points above. Internet reliability is the next problem.
All that security is wasted if the internet connection is slow or keeps disconnecting. A VPN adds an extra hop, and most VPNs slow down your Internet connection a little. On a fast line that rarely matters; on a slow one, it can stop a child from joining an online class.
With Speedify for Families, you don’t have to trade security for Internet speed. The condition is two internet connections on each device: Speedify combines multiple internet connections at the same time, such as Wi-Fi and 4G/5G cellular, for faster downloads and uploads and failover when one drops.
