How to Improve Your Gaming Experience with Faster Upload and Download Speeds with Speedify

Your Internet Connection Makes and Breaks the Gaming Experience

Gaming today is all about playing online - long gone are the days when you'd enjoy only single player missions. And it can even be done through the browser. There are two major issues that can hinder your gaming experience:

  • your hardware - if it does not meet the recommended game requirements.
  • your Internet connection - if it's slow and unreliable.

It's simple when it comes to hardware - you'll know from the beginning what to expect from the game. The real issue is with Internet connectivity, because it may work fine when you start the game, but have glitches as you're close to defeating the opposing team.

This article will share a simple way on how to improve your gaming experience and get better connectivity.

Quick answer

Should you have a backup 4G, 5G, Starlink, or cable internet connection?

Yes — every internet connection goes down, including Starlink, which drops for ~34 minutes a day on average. A backup connection from a different provider means one outage never takes you fully offline. The most common options are a 4G/5G cellular hotspot, a cable or DSL line, or a second satellite dish.

Speedify bonds any two connections into one — automatic failover, more speed, no dropped calls.

How to Improve Your Gaming Experience: Use 2 or More Connections at Once

Do not mistake this with switching between connections! As all operating systems work - when the default connection drops or is disconnected, the system switches (after a while) to another active connection, if there's one. We're talking here about channel bonding / link aggregation.

Combining multiple Internet connections is where a bonding VPN service like Speedify shines! Is your WiFi too slow and generates high latency? Do you have another Internet source that you can use? Then you can use Speedify to combine those at once.

Check out these guides for Mac and Windows on how you can add more connections to improve your gaming experience. And don't worry if you have a cap on cellular data or other metered connections. With Speedify you can control how to use those.

Try the UDP Transport Mode instead of default TCP

Are you experiencing slow speeds or high latency when gaming, even while running Speedify? Try setting your transport mode to UDP.

Also, setting your bonding mode to Speed Mode or Redundant Mode will improve your gaming latency. For any other speed-related issues while using Speedify, check out this article. You will definitely get to the bottom of how to improve your gaming experience.

Getting a Better Gaming Experience with Speedify - Test Results

First person shooters (FPS) are the most ping-sensitive games out there. That's why we decided to briefly test two such popular games, with and without Speedify:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on a Windows PC
  • PUBG on an Android smartphone

The test setup involved using a low speed Wi-Fi connection with high response time (ping) when going without Speedify. Then, we combined that with a high-speed cellular 4G Internet connection using Speedify's fastest server option with default settings. And here are the results:

75 ms ping on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare without Speedify's channel bonding

42 ms latency on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare using Speedify channel bonding - that's a 44% improvement!

840 ms ping on PUBG without Speedify's channel bonding

48 ms ping on PUBG with Speedify's channel bonding - 94% better!
