Watch Now: Aircraft Satellite Navigation is Broken

GPS jamming and GPS spoofing is destroying airplane satellite navigation tech. Global Positioning Systems (GPS) tech relies on weak unencrypted satellite signals, making GPS jamming a serious risk - especially on planes flying near Iran. We look at how GPS works, using 32 medium earth orbit satellite signals to calculate location, and how GPS jamming or spoofing can easily disrupt aircraft navigation systems. GPS spoofing blocks real satellite signals with fake GPS data, causing dangerous errors for aircraft and navigation systems.

That’s why navigation tech is moving past GPS: combining satellite systems, inertial navigation, laser communications, and future tech like Visual Positioning Systems (VPS) and computer vision mapping tech will protect against GPS jamming and improve reliability when satellite signals fail.
