How to Have Fun While Live Streaming
On the 77th episode of Speedify Live we’re joined by one of the most energetic guests we’ve had so far: Hector “RicanRod” Rodriguez, army veteran, live streamer, writer, actor, TV station manager, content creator, and many more!
We discuss RicanRod’s experiences with different streaming platforms, what building a bilingual community is like, while we also talk drones and how Hector uses Speedify for his IRL streams.
Here are our 5 takeaways from our most hyper stream yet:
- RicanRodTV uses Speedify for his IRL stream by combining connections on his phone. He streams directly through the Twitch app, usually streaming his dance classes, and using Speedify for the speed and stability boost it can provide!
- Speedify likes to give back to the community as much as possible: because we believe in Internet Freedom, we offer free usage for countries like Cuba, where internet censorship is high, and access is limited.
- One of the things RicanRod uses to build up his audience is the Pokémon Community Game extension on Twitch. This add-on allows viewers to “catch Pokémon” through commands in chat, and find new streamers and communities in the process.
- Getting his start on Mixer, RicanRodTV now only streams on Twitch, while he also highlights Hover.gg, a place where people can upload clips from different social platforms, from Facebook to Twitch to TikTok, put a watermark on the clip, and then later download and further share it back to other platforms.
- RicanRod streams in both English and Spanish, which both has its pros and cons. The disadvantage is that audience participation can suffer from not everyone understanding the language, and sadly there are still no well-working translation closed-captions available; while the advantage is that Hector is more comfortable with his streams, has more fun, and is able to build a great, diverse community!
