How to Fix Comcast Xfinity Streaming Problems with Speedify

What’s Up With Your Xfinity Streaming Acting Up?

According to the latest market data, Comcast is the leader of the cable industry for home Internet. When talking about user reviews, there have been a lot of negative one for Xfinity (and for all providers for that matter) since the coronavirus pandemic. That’s because as more people work from home, they consume the same bandwidth they previously were using for work as well.

When it comes to Comcast streaming problems, the most common symptom is buffering. And, of course, getting a very poor video quality. Even Netflix and YouTube reduced the quality of streaming videos so that Internet bandwidth could be conserved during the Covid-19 outbreak.

So how to fix Xfinity streaming problems? Read this article and find out how to get the best quality videos even on slow and unstable Internet connections.

Speedify makes your uploads and downloads faster, more reliable, and more secure.

Speedify combines Wi-Fi, 4G / 5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink, and other satellites for faster internet uploads and downloads

Speedify is the only software app that combines Wi-Fi, 4G / 5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink and other satellites at once for secure, faster, and more reliable internet uploads and downloads so you stay online without interruptions.

Speedify will automatically detect and start using any available Internet connections on your device while intelligently distributing your online traffic between them for optimal performance. If you need help we have quick start guides available for most common set ups.

Speedify gets you faster uploads and downloads from the devices around you

Speedify's Pair & Share feature lets you and the devices around you pair up and share 4G/5G cellular both ways, so every paired device gets faster uploads, faster downloads, and a steadier internet connection. All sides share and use each other's cellular at once, unlike a personal hotspot, where one device gives and the rest take.

Speedify's Pair & Share feature runs over the local network between devices already running Speedify, with no extra hardware and no new data plans. Speedify creates an encrypted pool of shared 4G/5G cellular connections across all paired devices. Each device taps into that shared pool of combined connections for faster upload and download speeds and a more reliable internet connection.

Streaming Issues: Who’s the Real Culprit – Comcast or the Streaming Platforms?

Before we start troubleshooting streaming issues with Comcast Xfinity, there are two things you need to check:

  1. The origin for the Xfinity streaming problems. The streaming platform of your choice should be up and running without issues. Check and see if there’s any news of issues for NetflixHuluHBODisney+, BBC, etc. If it’s not them, then it’s you.
  2. The speed of your connection – just run a speed testIs your Internet bandwidth fast enoughwithin these recommendations: at least 5 Mbps for a HD quality video / 25 Mbps for an Ultra HD video?

All good with number 1 above? Then it’s you – start troubleshooting.

6 Steps to Troubleshoot and Avoid Future Comcast Streaming Problems

If it’s not the streaming problems, check if there are any Xfinity Internet outages in your area. Below is a list of things you should definitely try to troubleshoot:

  1. Reboot your router and the device you’re streaming from (computer, tablet, phone, etc.). Sometimes that’s all you need to do.
  2. Move closer to the wireless router. Actually, use a wired connection, if available.
  3. Close any background programs that might be using bandwidth. These include backup programs, social networks, collaboration tools, etc.
  4. Check to see if there are any other devices on your home network using bandwidth. Maybe your kids are streaming something themselves. Or playing games online.
  5. Try disabling hardware acceleration in your browser / streaming app’s settings. Certain combinations of devices and streaming platforms may not work well together.
  6. Do you have a second Internet connection available (e.g. public WiFi, mobile data, backup connection)? Just use that extra connection along with your home Internet simultaneously for faster, more stable Internet. All you need is a channel bonding service like Speedify.

Speedify Helps You Fix Comcast Streaming Problems

As a fast bonding VPN, Speedify allows you to combine multiple Internet connections at once. This happens through a VPN-grade encrypted tunnel, so your privacy and data security is protected.

If one of the connections you’re using becomes slower or even disconnects, Speedify will automatically start moving traffic to the other working connection(s). When the initial connection is back, it starts using it again.

And don’t worry – just because it’s also a VPN doesn’t mean you can’t access your favorite streaming platforms. Speedify’s bypass feature allows only trusted traffic from Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Disney+ and more to go around the encrypted tunnel.
