Fix Zoom Dropouts on Starlink with Speedify: Combine Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, Starlink and Ethernet

You Can Combine Multiple Internet Connections Together - Like Starlink, Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, and DSL - with Speedify, to Fix Starlink Dropouts in Zoom

Are you getting disconnected from Zoom because of Starlink dropouts? It's not just you, but you have to fix it.

Bottom line: your Starlink speed is slow and unreliable. You can boost your slow Starlink: combine it with another Internet source like another Starlink or DSL, 4G, 5G. Whether at home, work, or on-the-go, Speedify works with all live streaming software and social platforms to get you faster, more reliable and secure Internet.

In this article we'll show you how you can fix slow Starlink speed for much smoother Zoom video calls.

Quick answer

Should you get a backup connection for Starlink?

Yes. Starlink goes down every day — an always-on dish averages about 34 minutes of downtime daily from routine satellite handoffs. A second connection keeps you online when Starlink drops.

What’s the best backup connection for Starlink?

A 4G/5G cellular hotspot or SIM is the most practical backup for most Starlink users — it works anywhere Starlink works, requires no installation, and uses a different network so outages rarely overlap. Cable or DSL broadband is a strong option if you have it at a fixed location. A second Starlink dish is also possible if you need maximum throughput.

How do you use two internet connections at once with Starlink?

Speedify combines Starlink with any other connection — cellular, cable, Wi-Fi, or a second dish — into one bonded connection. Speedify runs on your phone, laptop, or router. When Starlink drops, Speedify moves your traffic to the backup instantly, so calls don’t cut out and downloads don’t stall. Speedify is free to try.

71% of Speedify’s Starlink users already run a second connection. The data below shows why.

Use Speedify to stay online during satellite handoffs every 15 seconds

Research confirms Starlink switches between satellites every 15 seconds on a fixed schedule.  Each satellite handoff is a potential dropout, and on a congested network or with any obstruction, those Starlink dropouts become real interruptions.

Speedify fixes Starlink connection drops by combining your Starlink internet connection with another satellite dish, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, or wired Ethernet at the same time. When Starlink drops, Speedify keeps your traffic moving on the backup internet connection instantly.

Speedify alerts you about your Starlink dish status

Speedify software alerts you about your Starlink dish status as soon as your dish experiences an issue - e.g. when your actuator motor is stuck, the mast is not vertical or there's a thermal throttle.

Speedify's Starlink Control Center helps you monitor all your Starlink dishes, read obstruction maps, and align multiple dishes all in the Speedify app. Get a real-time view of each dish's health and optimize the position of each Starlink dish, so you get the best possible performance out of your Starlink connections.

Why Is Starlink Internet Slow?

Starlink is the best satellite Internet solution available right now, but there are still lots of ways it can generate connection issues. Here are a few reasons why your Starlink may be slow and unreliable:

  • your dish is obstructed - that's actually the easiest way to mess up your Starlink connection. Obviously, you shouldn’t have something covering your dish. But even if you don’t, you might still have a tree or part of your roof, off to the side partially obstructing your connection as the satellites move around overhead.
Solution: make sure the dish is not obstructed in any way. You can check the obstruction map in your Starlink app to make sure your Dishy has a clear view of the sky.
  • you have a weak connection to your router
  • there's interference from other Wi-Fi connections
  • there are drops in coverage as satellites move around
  • you could just have an old faulty dish.

Either way, Starlink satellites all rotate at the exact same time every 15 seconds, so no matter what, you will experience little connection drops and packet loss, which can affect your video streams.

Fix Starlink Dropouts in Zoom: Bring an Additional Connection into the Mix

The secret to cutting most of slow Starlink related issues is bringing an additional internet connection into the mix. That connection can be another Starlink, 4G, 5G, an old DSL line - whatever is available. The more connections you combine with your Starlink, the more you can fill in any gaps in your connection stability and keep you internet fast and reliable even when your Starlink slows down.

How to combine multiple connections at once? It's easy - just get Speedify on your computer, mobile device or router!

Speedify is the only app that combines all of your internet connections to keep you online when it matters most. It uses a unique technology called channel bonding to intelligently send and receive your internet traffic over multiple internet sources at the same time. It can even split a single Zoom stream at the packet level, which means it can increase your bandwidth as you add more connections, resulting in smoother, crispier video calls on Zoom without any issues.

Plus, if you want to add more cellular connections for even more bandwidth and stability, you won’t need extra adapters. Speedify lets you wirelessly pair as many devices as you want, to share their cellular over the local network. The more devices you pair, the stronger your connection will be.

All you need to do is connect everyone to the same Wi-Fi or hotspot, download Speedify for free on all your devices, and pair phones in the Speedify app to share Cellular. This is what we call Pair & Share.
