What Is a Dedicated IP Address? How Speedify Dedicated Servers Work

Speedify Dedicated Servers Provide Dedicated IP, Port Forwarding and Faster Uploads and Downloads

A dedicated IP address is an internet address assigned to one account, and one account only. Nobody else sends their traffic through it. That single fact is what separates it from the address most people get from a VPN or an internet provider, where one IP is shared across many users at once.

Connect through a typical VPN server and your traffic leaves through an address that dozens or hundreds of other people are using at the same time. That helps you blend into a crowd, but it has side effects. The address inherits the reputation of everyone on it, and the services you connect to have no reliable way to tell that a given request keeps coming from you.

A dedicated IP flips both of those. The address is stable, it belongs to you, and the sites and systems you reach see the same identity every time.

Quick answer

Should you have a backup 4G, 5G, Starlink, or cable internet connection?

Yes — every internet connection goes down, including Starlink, which drops for ~34 minutes a day on average. A backup connection from a different provider means one outage never takes you fully offline. The most common options are a 4G/5G cellular hotspot, a cable or DSL line, or a second satellite dish.

Speedify bonds any two connections into one — automatic failover, more speed, no dropped calls.

Speedify combines Wi-Fi, 4G / 5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink, and other satellites for faster internet uploads and downloads

Speedify is the only software app that combines Wi-Fi, 4G / 5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink and other satellites at once for secure, faster, and more reliable internet uploads and downloads so you stay online without interruptions.

Speedify will automatically detect and start using any available Internet connections on your device while intelligently distributing your online traffic between them for optimal performance. If you need help we have quick start guides available for most common set ups.

Speedify gets you faster uploads and downloads from the devices around you

Speedify's Pair & Share feature lets you and the devices around you pair up and share 4G/5G cellular both ways, so every paired device gets faster uploads, faster downloads, and a steadier internet connection. All sides share and use each other's cellular at once, unlike a personal hotspot, where one device gives and the rest take.

Speedify's Pair & Share feature runs over the local network between devices already running Speedify, with no extra hardware and no new data plans. Speedify creates an encrypted pool of shared 4G/5G cellular connections across all paired devices. Each device taps into that shared pool of combined connections for faster upload and download speeds and a more reliable internet connection.

Dedicated IP vs. shared IP

The clearest way to understand a dedicated IP is to set it next to the shared one you are probably using now.

  • Shared IP: one address used by many people, changes between sessions, free or included with most plans, strong for anonymity, weak for anything that needs to recognize you.
  • Dedicated IP: one address used by you alone, stays the same session after session, usually a paid add-on, strong for whitelisting and consistent access, less about blending in.

There is a related term worth untangling. A static IP is simply an address that does not change. A dedicated IP is an address that is yours alone. The two overlap most of the time, since a dedicated IP is almost always static, but a static address can still be shared among a small group.

When a service needs to trust a specific address, the part that matters is that the address is dedicated, not just static. Speedify explains the difference further in its guide to NAT and static IP addresses.

When a dedicated IP is worth having

A dedicated IP earns its place when something on the other end needs to recognize you reliably. The usual reasons:

  • IP whitelisting: work systems, admin panels, and platforms that only accept connections from approved addresses.
  • Fewer CAPTCHAs and login blocks: banks and online accounts flag logins from unfamiliar addresses, so an IP they already know means fewer interruptions.
  • Running a service people can reach: a game server, a personal cloud, or a home device that needs to be found at the same address every time.

How Speedify Dedicated Servers provide a static IP

Most VPNs sell a dedicated IP as a thin add-on. You pay a few dollars a month and get one static exit address, and that is the whole product. It does not make your connection faster, it does not let you run services behind it, and it comes with no promise that the server stays up.

Speedify takes a different approach. A Speedify Dedicated Server gives you a static IPv4 address as part of a private server reserved for you. On top of the static IP, Speedify uses channel bonding to combine Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink and satellite into a single connection that terminates at that server, with:

  • up to 1 Gbps of throughput,
  • 3TB of monthly bandwidth,
  • port forwarding for services that need to be reachable from the internet,
  • a guaranteed service level agreement.

The static IP is one feature of a connection that is faster, more reliable, and more secure, not the entire offering.

Speedify also keeps the full global network available alongside your Dedicated Server, so you never lose access to the public locations across 50+ cities on six continents.

Most people do not need a dedicated IP, and for them the shared Speedify network is free with every plan. If consistency matters more than blending in, a Speedify Dedicated Server bundles the static IP with bonding and port forwarding.
