A New Year’s Note from Our CEO

Dear Speedify Users,

It’s hard to believe that we’re already shutting the books on 2015. As spaceship Earth made its yearly lap around the sun, our team was busier than ever making product improvements in leaps-and-bounds, supporting tens-of-thousands of new users, showing off our latest technology at events, and getting ourselves ready for an even bigger 2016. With the boom of the fireworks dying down, and the kids tucked into bed, I thought it would be a good time to take a look back at four awesome moments in the past year here at Speedify:

1. Speedify Featured on Product Hunt

In 2015 we really hit the ground running. On the heels of launching Speedify 3.0, a major new version of our awesome channel bonding service, the folks at Product Hunt caught wind of our desktop product and featured Speedify on their site in February. Not only was it a great opportunity to highlight our tech in front of the always forward-thinking Product Hunt community, but we were excited to see Speedify for Mac & PC get upvoted 276 times and land on the site’s most popular products for that month.

2. Helping Cuban Citizens Get Online

This year was another great year in helping more folks get online with better, faster Internet, too. I was delighted to find out that our flagship Connectify Hotspot software played a pivotal part in how Cuban citizens were able to get online for the first time ever. According to stories published in the Washington Post, The Verge, and more, Connectify Hotspot spread like wildfire in Cuba, as ordinary citizens began using our awesome little virtual router product to share the country’s thirty-or-so new public Wi-Fi access points, helping even more of their friends and neighbors get online for the first time. As noted in an interview for VICE’s Motherboard, we were so pleased to see Connectify doing its part on the world stage that we immediately launched an initiative to unlock our premium features free for all Cuban citizens.

3. Showing our latest technology at Engadget Live! and more

Sometimes, we get lost in the day-to-day of development cycles, scrum meetings, and company-wide burrito lunches, and lose track of what it means that our products are used by millions of people around the world. That’s why I think it’s important to get our team out of the office and talking to folks IRL every once in awhile. This year, we attended and gave talks at some great regional events, and even hosted an awesome meetup for Dev Ops folks using Docker.io at our brand new digs in Center City Philadelphia. Best of all, we got to show off our latest technology to hundreds of eager eyeballs after being invited to Engadget Live! events in New York City and Boston in 2015.

4. 100,000+ Sign-ups for Speedify Mobile Beta

Probably the single most important part of the past twelve months, however, was the launch of our Speedify Mobile Beta Waitlist. In June, we announced that Speedify was coming to iOS & Android, letting you combine Wi-Fi and mobile data for reliability and a speed boost when you need it. We must’ve really struck a chord, because just 6 months later our waitlist has crossed over 100,000 sign-ups. Your interest in Speedify Mobile has proven to us that you really want our channel bonding technology on mobile devices, and that vote of confidence has encouraged our development team to work faster than ever in the latter half of this year.

Looking ahead to 2016, I bet you can imagine at least some of what’s coming next! But, there’s so much exciting stuff in the pipeline that I’m bursting at the seams to tell you. Alas, you’ll just have to stay tuned here and on our social spaces in the upcoming weeks to find out the big news.
