Starlink Internet Connection Dropouts Happen to Everyone

Why Starlink Upload Speed Is Slower Than Download Speed
Starlink gives downloads more room than uploads. Like most cable internet, Starlink sets aside more capacity for data coming to you than for data you send.
Your Starlink dish switches satellites about every 15 seconds. Each switch can pause an upload for a moment, which hurts long uploads like video calls, live streams and cloud backups the most.

Bad weather slows uploads too. Heavy rain and storms weaken the signal between your Starlink dish and the satellites, in both directions.
How to Fix Slow Starlink Upload Speeds
Step 1: Test Your Starlink Upload Speed at Different Times of Day. Run a speed test in the Starlink app in the early morning, at midday, and in the evening, and compare the upload numbers. If uploads are only slow in the evening, the Starlink network in your area is busy, and the last section shows how to keep uploads moving.
Step 2: Clear Obstructions Blocking Your Starlink Dish’s View of the Sky. Make sure nothing blocks the Starlink dish’s view of the sky in any direction. Even small obstructions slow uploads down. Use Check for Obstructions in the Starlink app to find what’s in the way.
Step 3: Update the Software on Your Starlink Dish. Starlink releases software updates that improve speed. Check the software version in the Starlink app and let updates install automatically.
Step 4: Connect Your Computer to the Starlink Router with an Ethernet Cable. Wi-Fi adds delay and can slow uploads further. A cable avoids that.
Step 5: Put Uploads First in Your Own Router’s Settings (If You Use One). If you use your own router, its Quality of Service (QoS) setting can put video calls and cloud backups ahead of everything else.
