Why YouTube Videos Are Blocked

Internet censorship is one of the main reasons why many websites and services, including YouTube, are blocked. Surprisingly, this has happened on and off in many countries around the world.

But that’s not the only case where you can’t watch YouTube videos. School and office networks are known for their YouTube-not-friendly policies. They claim it is for your own good and productivity. Kids should stay in school and pay attention in class. We’ll tell you how to unblock YouTube at school if you promise to watch it during recess only.

Last, but not least, you may only get some YouTube videos being “unavailable in your country or region“.

Some of the workarounds you can usually apply to unblock websites aren’t going to be applicable here. You can’t go to YouTube’s IP directly instead of using the URL because it will lead you only to Google. Also, to unblock YouTube videos that are geo-restricted, you will need to change your virtual location. The good news is you can both void being blocked when accessing YouTube and make it look like you are located somewhere else.

Ways to Go Around YouTube Blocks

Here are some ways to avoid YouTube blocks:

  • Change your DNS settings – Most people change the DNS address to block ads, however changing your DNS can also allow you to unblock YouTube, here is a great article from TechRadar on the subject.
  • Use Google Translate – Believe it or not, you can use Google Translate as a web proxy. Visit Google Translate and enter the URL of the website you want to visit, in this case YouTube. Make sure to select a language other than English, translate the URL and click on the link – You’ve just used Google Translate as a web proxy – a pretty cool way to unblock Youtube, right?
  • Use a web proxy. There are tons to choose from, but you may find it that they have been blocked as well.

These workarounds aren’t guaranteed to work 100% of the time but they are worth a shot. But there is a solution that works more reliably and is way less complicated – using a VPN to unblock YouTube.

How Speedify Bonding VPN Helps You Unblock YouTube

As a bonding VPN, Speedify encrypts your web traffic and changes your IP address. This doesn’t allow your ISP or government to know which website or service you’re accessing. It also makes it appear as if you are located somewhere else. This means you can unblock  YouTube or specific videos. All you need to do is connect to a Speedify VPN server in a different country.

But that’s not all – Speedify is different than the other VPNs. It will not make your Internet slower, like most VPNs. Speedify allows you to combine multiple Interne connections at once. This creates one “super” connection – you get faster and more reliable Internet. No more buffering on YouTube either!

When you need to unblock YouTube, just install Speedify on your computer or mobile device. And you’re all ready to go!
