Speedify LIVE Office Hours: Q&A with the Developers

May 18, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDT

How to Make Sure Speedify Is Helping You

On the 84th episode of Speedify LIVE we hold a special Office Hours without our usual host, and just two of Speedify's lead developers, as we take a look at recent updates and what else is yet to come!

As usual, we take viewer questions, demonstrate some of key, but lesser-known features of Speedify, and discuss what else our users may expect in upcoming releases.

Here are our 5 takeaways from our Office Hours:

  1. The Speedify Graph shows the current utilization of your connections, more specifically it shows Usage, Latency and Loss as it happens! Under Usage you'll see the traffic in Mbps as it is happening; under Latency you'll normally see low numbers, but it may spike with speedtests or higher traffic; and under Loss you'll generally see a number close to zero.
  2. Speedify has a built-in Bypass feature that allows certain traffic to go around the VPN! With Speedify 12.1 we have improved this for Android, where you can now select any of your installed apps to go around Speedify. On desktop, however, it's a bit more complicated, so for now you'll need to add anything extra through the CLI.
  3. If you find the pop-ups and notifications we send you a bit much, you can disable any of them, at any time! Head into the Speedify app Settings, and under the Display section you'll find Notifications. Here you can disable different things, from marketing alerts that may inform you of our streams and offers, to even our stream monitoring alerts.
  4. When it comes to using Speedify in rural areas, it can actually help a lot, not only with getting better speeds, but with reliability as well! Just make sure to connect to a server closest to your location, and Speedify will be able to get the best possible performance out of your connections.
  5. By default, Speedify's Transport Mode is set to Auto, which will allow us to automatically adjust your settings to the best possible mode. However, you can change this in Settings, under Sessions, in Transport mode to UDP, TCP Multiple, TCP or HTTPS.
If you have multiple slow connections that you want to combine in Speedify can help you to get more bandwidth out of that. Because I know that's a challenge a lot of times in rural areas.
