Starlink Internet for Office Use: How Speedify Keeps the Office Online

Speedify Gets Your Office Faster Upload and Download Speeds on Starlink

Yes, you can use Starlink for office internet. Starlink brings fast downloads to offices where cable, fiber or DSL isn’t available or keeps failing, and Starlink’s Priority plans are made for business use.

The weak spot is that a Starlink internet connection still drops for short moments, and in an office that means frozen video calls and failed uploads. Speedify, an app for computers and routers, uses Starlink together with a second internet connection, like 4G/5G cellular or a wired line, so the office stays online. Below: how Starlink works as office internet, where it falls short, and how Speedify fills the gaps.

How Starlink Works as Office Internet

For businesses, Starlink sells Priority plans: Local Priority and Global Priority (names vary by country). Starlink says Priority plans get download speeds of 135 to 310 Mbps and upload speeds of 20 to 44 Mbps. That’s enough for a small office running cloud apps, video calls and file sharing. Priority data is capped, so here is how to stretch Starlink priority data.

When the Starlink network is busy, Starlink serves Priority plans first and slows Residential plans before them. That makes a Priority plan steadier at busy times of day than a home Starlink plan.

Like any satellite internet, Starlink has short slowdowns and drops: bad weather, something blocking the Starlink dish’s view of the sky, and the Starlink dish switching satellites about every 15 seconds all cause them. In an office where a dropped call or a failed cloud sync costs money, one internet connection is a risk.

How Speedify Makes Starlink Better for Office Internet

Speedify runs on your office computers or on the office router and uses all your internet connections at the same time. With Starlink and a second internet connection, like 4G/5G cellular or a wired broadband line, Speedify sends the office’s traffic over both, so you get close to their combined upload and download speed. When Starlink slows down or drops, Speedify moves all office traffic to the other internet connection right away. Calls, video meetings and cloud apps keep going without reconnecting.

Speedify needs that second internet connection. With Starlink alone, Speedify can’t add speed or stop the drops.

Speedify also encrypts all internet traffic, so business data stays protected on every internet connection your office uses.

How to Set Up Speedify with Starlink for Your Office

Step 1: Install the Starlink Dish Where It Can See the Whole Sky

Mount your Starlink dish with a clear view of the sky and connect it to your office network. Use the obstruction map in the Starlink app to check for trees or buildings in the way before you settle on the spot.

Step 2: Add a Second Internet Connection for the Office

Connect a 4G/5G cellular router, a USB cellular modem, or a second wired broadband line to your office router or to the computer that will run Speedify. Check that it works on its own. This gives Speedify a second internet connection to use together with Starlink.

Step 3: Download and Run Speedify

Download Speedify on your office computers, or install it on a router that works with Speedify to cover the whole office. Speedify finds every internet connection and starts using them right away.

Which Offices Should Use Starlink with Speedify

  • Offices in rural areas where cable or fiber isn’t available and Starlink is the fastest internet option
  • Temporary offices such as construction site offices, event production offices, or disaster response centers
  • Small businesses with remote or spread-out teams who live on video calls and cloud apps and can’t afford drops
  • Offices switching internet providers who need Starlink to bridge the gap or as a second internet connection during the change
  • Branch offices whose IT managers want a failover internet connection handled in software, on computers or a supported router

Speedify Also Shows Your Office Starlink Dish’s Alerts

Speedify shows Starlink dish alerts in the app. If your Starlink dish has a stuck motor, a mounting pole that isn’t straight, or is overheating, Speedify shows an alert, and clears it once the problem is gone.

For IT managers, that means a Starlink dish problem shows up in the Speedify app before it takes the whole office offline.
