Custom DNS VPN: Speedify’s VPN Tunnels Are Unbreakable

Unbreakable VPN Connection with Custom DNS by Combining Starlink, Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G, and DSL with Speedify

With Speedify, you can set a custom DNS server to use with your VPN connection. This is an important feature every VPN should have – keep reading to find out why.

A VPN protects your online privacy by encrypting all your Internet traffic. That’s the theory of it, at least. In real life, some VPN services allow Internet requests to go outside of the VPN tunnel. This is called a DNS leak. It means that your ISP, or any other device that’s eavesdropping on your traffic, can actually see the Internet requests made, as the browser or the apps on your smartphone send the DNS queries directly to the ISP and not through the VPN tunnel.

Speedify delivers an unbreakable VPN connection by intelligently bonding multiple internet sources, ensuring continuous uptime and encrypted protection.

Why Speedify's VPN Tunnel is Unbreakable vs Other VPNs

Most VPNs stop working the moment one of your internet connections has a problem. If your Wi-Fi glitches, or your device briefly switches between 4G / 5G and Starlink, you can suddenly lose your VPN connection.

Speedify is built to prevent that. Instead of relying on just one connection, Speedify can use all your available internet connections at the same time: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 4G / 5G cellular, even Starlink or other satellite. If one connection slows down or drops, Speedify instantly moves your traffic to another internet source so your VPN stays connected and your online activity isn’t interrupted.

In this video, you’ll see how Speedify keeps your internet connection secure, smooth, and reliable by intelligently spreading your encrypted data across the available connections. The result: an unbreakable VPN tunnel.

Combining multiple internet sources like WiFi, 4G, 5G, & Starlink together makes Speedify's secure VPN tunnels unbreakable

Combine internet connections for better bandwidth and signal strength

No matter how secure your VPN is, if you experience a drop in your Internet connection, either your VPN tunnel will break leaving you unprotected, or you’ll be stuck offline. Speedify is the only VPN that seamlessly combines all of your connections, including WiFi, 4G, 5G, Ethernet, and Starlink, into one unbreakable connection to keep you online and secure.

Speedify will automatically detect any available Internet connections on your device, encrypting and intelligently distributing your online traffic between them for optimal performance. If you need help we have quick start guides available for most common set ups.

Join multiple mobile personal hotspots at the same time

Speedify's Pair & Share is a feature that enables you to connect to multiple personal hotspots at the same time and wirelessly share LTE, 4G, and 5G cellular connections back and forth between multiple Speedify users on the same local network to create a faster, more reliable connection for everyone.

With Speedify, all of your available internet sources - even shared personal hotspots - are combined inside the secure VPN tunnel with your encrypted traffic intelligently distributed between them, while split tunneling allows blocked sites to bypass. So, if any connection slows down or drops out, the VPN tunnel stays active and the other connections will automatically take over to keep you securely, seamlessly connected.

Why You Should Use a VPN Custom DNS

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phone book of the Internet.  This is the service that turns URLs like “speedify.com” or “google.com” into IP addresses. These addresses are then used to connect you to the right server.

We will look at DNS servers from 2 main perspectives: speed and security.

VPN Custom DNS and How It Can Improve Internet Speed

Whenever you try to connect to a website or service, your device queries the DNS server to find out the IP address. If that DNS server is located close to where you are, things will load quickly, whether you’re browsing, live streaming or playing online games with low latency.

If the DNS server is far away, there will be lag added to your connection. However, in some cases it’s recommended to use a DNS server from a certain country to avoid content restrictions. This is because some content services check the DNS server along with the IP address of the client.

The conclusion? Being able to use a custom DNS server can speed up your connection.

How VPN Custom DNS Help with Online Privacy

VPNs are the best solution to protect your online privacy, as they create a tunnel between your computer and the Internet. Unfortunately, not all VPN services make your online activity fully anonymous. Here’s how to find out if you’re exposed or not by DNS leaks. It’s crucial to get DNS leak protection from your VPN service.

DNS servers are used to resolve Internet addresses. There are multiple DNS servers you can use, though usually your ISP decides. This raises some privacy questions:

  • All requests go through the ISP default DNS
  • This means that, in theory, ISPs can create an online profile for you
  • Even if you’re using a VPN to encrypt your traffic, it may leak DNS requests (see above).

The solution to stay 100% anonymous online: use VPN custom DNS. Doing so will keep DNS requests within the VPN tunnel.

What’s the Fastest DNS Server You Should Use With Your VPN?

Speedify bonding VPN encrypts and protects your DNS traffic. No one can spy on your Internet connection to see what sites and services you’re using. This is very useful for avoiding ISP throttling.

Starting with version 7.4, Speedify includes a VPN custom DNS feature. This lets you pick which DNS service to use as your “phone book”. Different DNS services have different features, which can be helpful. Out of the box, Speedify supports a number of popular DNS services, all with their own strengths:

Need a different DNS server? You can also select “Custom” and enter a DNS server of your choice by IP address.

How to Change DNS Servers on Your Computer or Smartphone

If you’re not using a VPN custom DNS, you need to fix that! This article from Gizmodo includes brief guides on how to change DNS servers on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS.

Additionally, see if your VPN service supports custom DNS servers; if so, use them. With Speedify, it’s very simple: just go to the Settings > DNS Service and select your DNS server.

Need faster and more secure Internet? A VPN custom DNS can do the trick, if chosen wisely. Does your VPN support this?
