How to Combine 4G Cellular and Wi-Fi at the Same Time on a PC

Take Advantage of Wi-Fi and a 4G Cellular Dongle for Faster, More Reliable Internet

Have you ever experienced a bad Wi-Fi hotspot? Let’s go with a strong “yes” on this one and suggest a solution for those moments when you’re working on your PC and the Wi-Fi Internet is very slow or even disconnects: a cellular USB dongle.

But we’re not suggesting using that 4G cellular dongle as a backup connection – you would combine it with the Wi-Fi Internet simultaneously. All you need is a channel bonding (or link aggregation) software app like Speedify.

Speedify is the only app that combines your wifi, cellular, wired, and even your friend’s phone signals – and turns them into one ultra-fast and super secure link that keeps you all connected for the best possible live streaming, video calling, or just posting to your favorite app.

Speedify can bond any number or combination of Internet connections and will intelligently distribute your online traffic among them for optimal performance. Plus, if you get disconnected from one of your connections in the middle of an important video call or file transfer, Speedify will seamlessly failover to your other working Internet connection(s) without skipping a beat.

NOTE: For best results, use Internet connections from different sources. In general, joining the same upstream network multiple times (such as the same router via Ethernet and Wi-Fi) will not improve performance.

3 Steps to Combine a USB Cellular Adapter and Wi-Fi at Once on a PC

Step 1: Connect to Wi-Fi

Verify that your Wi-Fi is enabled on your PC and connected to a network.

Click on the Wi-Fi symbol in the lower right corner of the taskbar (systray). If you’re not already connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, turn on Wi-Fi by clicking on the tile in the lower left side of the pop-up menu then select your desired network. Keep in mind, private networks may require you to enter a password before connecting.

Step 2: Connect your USB Cellular Adapter to your PC

Connect your Cellular Adapter to a USB port on your PC. Some Cellular adapters require the use of proprietary dialer software to connect to the Internet. Be sure to follow the manufacturers installation and operating instructions closely.

In order to verify that your cellular connection is active, click on the computer / Wi-Fi icon in the lower right area of the taskbar (systray) and check to see if a “Cellular” tile shows up.

Don’t have a USB Cellular Adapter? You can also use a tethered iPhone/iPad or Android device!

Step 3: Download and Install Speedify

Last but certainly not least, download and install Speedify. Once running, Speedify will automatically detect any available Internet connections and combine them for increased speed, security, and stability.

You can manage settings, view statistics, and even apply limits to individual connections by either clicking/tapping on them from the Dashboard or by navigating to the desired connection through the main Settings menu.

Speedify will work quietly in the background to optimize performance including prioritizing streaming web traffic to avoid stuttering, buffering and disconnects.

Whether at home, work, or on-the-go, Speedify is the only VPN that makes your online experiences faster, more reliable, and more secure.
