How Starlink Works for Vehicle Fleets
Vehicle fleets have traditionally relied on 4G/5G cellular for in-vehicle internet. Cellular works well in urban and suburban corridors but becomes unreliable in rural highways, remote job sites, national parks, and areas with limited carrier infrastructure. Drivers and field workers lose connectivity exactly where their work takes them.
Starlink’s flat-mount terminal, designed for vehicles in motion, provides satellite coverage across rural and remote areas where cellular falls short. Speedify runs on the router or device installed in each fleet vehicle and monitors Starlink and 4G/5G cellular connections simultaneously. When both are active, Speedify bonds them and delivers up to 95% of their combined upload and download capacity. When one connection degrades, Speedify moves all traffic to the healthy connection at the packet level. Telematics systems, dispatch applications, and communication tools stay connected throughout the route.

How to Deploy Speedify with Starlink Across a Vehicle Fleet
Step 1: Install Starlink on Each Fleet Vehicle
Mount Starlink’s flat-panel in-motion terminal on each vehicle. Connect it to the vehicle’s onboard router. Confirm the Starlink connection is active and providing internet access before deployment.
Step 2: Add 4G/5G Cellular to Each Vehicle
Connect a 4G/5G cellular modem or SIM card to each vehicle’s onboard router alongside Starlink. For broader rural coverage, modems supporting multiple cellular carriers are preferable.
Step 3: Install Speedify on Each Vehicle’s Router or Device
Download Speedify and install it on the router or device in each fleet vehicle. Speedify detects both Starlink and cellular connections and begins bonding them immediately. The fleet vehicle now has combined, automatically managed internet across its entire route.
