Use Two Starlink Dishes for Speed and Reliability with Speedify
A second Starlink dish improves your internet when the problem is the Starlink internet connection itself: slow speeds when many people are online at once, too little upload speed, or short drops that freeze your calls. It won’t help if the problem is weak Wi-Fi in part of your house.
A second Starlink dish also doesn’t add its speed to your first one on its own. To get more speed and fewer drops from two Starlink dishes, use them together with Speedify, which uses both Starlink internet connections at the same time.
Speedify combines multiple Starlink dishes for failover and faster uploads and downloads
Starlink Internet Connection Drops Happen to Everyone
Speedify measures thousands of Starlink users in more than 140 countries. In September 2026, fixed Starlink dishes went offline for about 38 minutes a day on average, and Starlink dishes on RVs and boats for about 46 minutes a day.
All Starlink dishes also see short dropouts roughly every 15 seconds as the Starlink internet connection switches from one moving satellite to the next. Even a perfectly installed Starlink dish goes offline, and about 7 in 10 Starlink users on Speedify use Starlink together with a second internet connection, like 4G/5G cellular.
Check What’s Slowing Your Starlink Internet Connection Before You Buy a Second Starlink Dish
Open the Starlink app first. If it shows an outage, a dish alert or something blocking your Starlink dish’s view of the sky, fix that before you spend money on a second one. You can also check your Starlink status from a computer, go through what to do when Starlink isn’t working, or try the 11 fixes for slow Starlink.
If your Starlink dish checks out and your internet is still too slow or keeps dropping, the limit is one Starlink dish. Starlink says one Starlink dish gets downloads of 45 to 280 Mbps and uploads of 10 to 30 Mbps, with a delay of 25 to 60 milliseconds on land. That’s enough for most homes, but not for every household or business.
Which Internet Problems a Second Starlink Dish Fixes, and Which It Doesn’t
A second Starlink dish, used together with the first through Speedify, fixes these:
Slow internet when many people are online at once: every phone, laptop and TV in your home shares the speed of one Starlink dish. When several people stream, game and make video calls at the same time, each one gets a smaller share. A second Starlink dish adds its speed to the total.
Uploads too slow for your work: uploads are the weak point of every Starlink dish. With two Starlink dishes, the upload speed of both adds up, for live streams, large video files and cloud backups.
Short drops that freeze your calls: a Starlink dish switches satellites about every 15 seconds, and something partly blocking its view causes short drops. Two Starlink dishes mounted in different spots are rarely blocked at the same moment, so Speedify keeps your call on the one that’s clear. Satellite switches happen on both Starlink dishes, so for those, 4G/5G cellular gives you more cover.
A broken Starlink dish: with one Starlink dish, a hardware problem takes you offline until it’s fixed or replaced. With two, you stay online.

A second Starlink dish doesn’t fix these:
Weak Wi-Fi in some rooms: if the internet is fast next to the Starlink router but slow in the bedroom, the problem is Wi-Fi range, not Starlink. Move the Starlink router closer to the middle of your home, or add a Wi-Fi extender or mesh Wi-Fi.
Two people on the same Starlink getting different speeds: that’s usually Wi-Fi too. A phone or laptop farther from the Starlink router, or behind more walls, gets a weaker Wi-Fi signal and lower speeds.
Evening slowdowns, only partly: in the evening, the Starlink network near you is busy, and both Starlink dishes use that same network. You still get the speed of both combined, but a 4G/5G cellular connection, which uses a different network, often helps more.
Outages of the whole Starlink network: both Starlink dishes go down together. Only a different kind of internet connection, like 4G/5G cellular, cable or DSL, keeps you online then.
How Speedify Makes Two Starlink Dishes Work as One Internet Connection
Plugging in a second Starlink dish doesn’t double your speed: your devices still use one Starlink internet connection at a time. Speedify is an app that uses both at once:
Both Starlink dishes at the same time: Speedify sends your traffic over both Starlink dishes, encrypted, and your devices see one fast internet connection.
More speed: nearly the full speed of both Starlink dishes combined. There’s always a little lost along the way, so two Starlink dishes won’t give you exactly twice the speed of one.
Automatic switching: if one Starlink dish has a problem, Speedify moves all your traffic to the other one, without dropping your calls or downloads.
No setup: Speedify finds both Starlink internet connections on its own, and sends more of your traffic through whichever one is doing better at that moment.
Cellular sharing: with Speedify’s cellular sharing, phones on the same Wi-Fi add their 4G/5G cellular data to your Starlink dishes.
Would a Second Starlink Help More Than a Different Internet Connection?
Not always. Depending on where you live, a different kind of internet connection used together with your Starlink dish may help more, for less money:
Starlink and 4G/5G cellular: a phone hotspot or a cellular modem uses a completely different network from Starlink, so the two rarely fail at the same time.
Starlink and fixed wireless: if a local provider offers internet by radio link from a nearby tower, using it together with Starlink gives you a strong spare.
Starlink and cable, DSL or fiber: where you can get both, using Starlink together with a wired line gives you the best protection against going offline.
What a Second Starlink Dish Costs
For the setup, see how to use two Starlink dishes together with Speedify. What a second Starlink costs you:
- The Starlink kit: a second Starlink dish costs several hundred dollars. Check starlink.com for the price in your country.
- A second subscription: each Starlink dish needs its own monthly plan.
- Power and mounting: a second Starlink dish uses more electricity and needs its own spot with a clear view of the sky.
Final Call: Would a Second Starlink Improve Your Internet?
Whatever you add, a second Starlink dish or a different kind of internet connection, it only helps if you use it together with your first Starlink dish at the same time. That’s what Speedify does. Then:
A second Starlink will help if:
- Your internet slows down when everyone at home is online
- Short drops keep freezing your video calls or live streams
- You need more upload speed than one Starlink dish has
- Starlink is the only fast internet where you live

A second Starlink probably won’t help if:
- Your internet is only slow in some rooms (that’s Wi-Fi range)
- One Starlink dish is fast enough most of the time
- You can get 4G/5G cellular, cable or DSL to use together with your Starlink dish for less
