Speedify vs. Peplink: Bond Starlink With the Speedify App, No Hardware Needed

Choosing between Peplink and Speedify for bonding Starlink? Here is the short version. Peplink relies on dedicated hardware; Speedify bonds Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, Ethernet, Starlink and satellite in software on the devices and routers you already run.

This post compares the two side by side so you can pick the right fit for your business.

~33 min

daily Starlink downtime — every dish, every day

Speedify gives your business a Starlink connection that stays online.

Real-world data from 6,228 Starlink dishes shows every dish goes down ~33 minutes per day. For businesses, that means dropped transactions, failed calls, and interrupted operations. Speedify adds a cellular backup and fails over in under a second — so your team never notices.

How Speedify Bonds Starlink Without Proprietary Hardware

Speedify connects to their global server network, then splits traffic at the packet level across every available connection at once – Starlink, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G cellular, wired Ethernet, other satellite. A single download, upload, or video stream uses the combined capacity of all bonded links, up to 95% of theoretical aggregate throughput.

When a connection degrades or fails, Speedify reroutes to the remaining connections in under a second without dropping the session. Speedify runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, and supported OpenWrt routers, so bonding happens on the exact device that needs it, with no proprietary appliance to source or rack.

Two Speedify capabilities have no Peplink equivalent for a Starlink site.

  • Speedify’s Starlink Control Center reads telemetry straight from each dish: obstruction maps, throughput, ping, uptime, and live alerts for a stuck actuator motor, a non-vertical mast, or a thermal throttle, plus dish alignment tools for aiming multiple dishes at different sky.
  • Speedify’s cellular sharing feature lets a field crew pool their 4G/5G cellular connections across devices on the same network, creating bonded capacity from the phones already on site.

Which Speedify Deployment Suits a Peplink Evaluation

For a business weighing Peplink, the closest Speedify mapping is the software app plus the Self-Hosted Servers or Dedicated Servers add-on. That pairing gives the private, controlled egress a Peplink-plus-cloud design provides, without proprietary endpoint hardware.

Businesses that still want a router at a fixed site can run a Powered by Speedify router on OpenWrt, GL.iNet, or Miri hardware and keep the same software bonding stack everywhere else. Speedify covers this when talking about the enterprise alternative to Peplink.
